"Top 10 budget hotels in Paris ".
Sarah Turner finds hotels to suit all tastes in the French capital for under £110, from monastic charm
to bordello style.
"With small, plain and pleasing rooms, the Trois Collèges has a monastic charm appropriate to a building that once housed novices from the nearby Cluny monastery. Jonathan Wyplosz is the third generation of his family to run this 44-room hotel and has overseen some serious renovations, including new air-conditioning. Worth seeking out are the corner rooms, including 44 and 54 - they are bigger and look out to the rooftops of the Sorbonne. Families and romantics should opt for the sixth-floor rooms, which are beamed and can hold an extra bed. Academic-minded people will appreciate the staff's advice on museums and exhibitions - they can arrange passes to the Musée d'Orsay to skip the queue."

Sélection de l'Hôtel des 3 Collèges
parmi "10 nids sous les toits de
Paris".
Vues romantiques, poutres apparentes, plafonds

The Guardian : "20 Paris Hotels under
£100"
It's the only place to be in springtime
-especially if you can do it on a budget. In a preview
from Alastair Sawday's
Special Places to Stay, we
reveal the most glamorous pied à terre that
won't break the bank.
"Young Jonathan has taken over from his mother
at the Trois Collèges and is eager to please
: he has whipped up an easy-to-use bus guide (a
more pleasurable way of getting around Paris than
the metro), a list of local restaurants, and can
arrange tickets for shows at the Orsay or Luxembourg
museums. Two prices are now available for breakfast
: a quick bite for those on the run or a more elaborate
repast for those who enjoy watching busy people
rush past the big ground floor windows. Bedrooms
are simple with white furniture and pastel-hued
piqué bedcovers ; there are splashes of colour
in the curtains and the good functionnal bathrooms
have Roger & Gallet toiletries. A very pleasant
and reasonable place to stay right beneath the looming
wall of the Sorbonne." |

Petit

Sandra
Gustafson's Great Sleeps in Paris (eleventh edition, 2007)
"This three-generation hotel is in a good Left Bank neighborhood
between the Sorbonne and the Panthéon,
and within easy walking distance to a multitude
of restaurants and shops. The small, off-white
lobby has a California look, with modern chairs,
large green plants, and bleached wooden floors.
The pocket-size rooms have all the necessities
: luggage racks, desks and chairs, full-lenght
mirrors, wall-mounted television sets, and fitted
bathrooms. What they are missing is extra space.
The best from a size standpoint are on the top floor. The glass-roofed lounge off the lobby
showcases a large, central tree that's surrounded
by rattan chairs."

-"Superb! Can't say enough about the staff
and location. The rooms are very clean and modern.
Some may not care for the smallness of the rooms
but they are all attractive. I have stayed at
here four times and have never been disappointed
in anything".
-"Excellent rapport qualité/prix.
Chambre très propre et confortable. La
salle de bain est moderne et rénovée
et les chambres sont silencieuses. Accès
facile pour le métro et les restaurants.
Ayant réservé par internet, ce fut
une agréable surprise!!! J'y retournerai
sûrement."
